How long will it take to repay with the British Airways BA American Express Credit Card
Fixed payment
By switching to the British Airways BA American Express Credit Card, you could pay off £1000 in by budgeting £50 each month. This would effectively cost you £50.
Minimum payment
By comparison, if you only make the minimum payment each month, it would take 18 years and 11 months to repay, costing you a total of £2,360 on top of the original balance! If this seems high, that's because your minimum payment is calculated as a percentage of your balance. This means each payment will be slightly lower than the month before which will have less effect on clearing your balance. So be smart and pay as much as you can afford!

"In principle it is a good system" dundee, 9th Feb 2011

In principle it is a good system ..but my concern at the moment is that I have accrued the points for a "companion travel" award ,,,and with my present high BA miles have been trying to book a flight ..but everytime it seems that no flights are avaialable? ...although when you check normal timetables and aslo with BA Gold Miles there seems to be avialable flights ??? sounds very suspect to me !!!!

"Would recommend to a friend as long as you're in it for the BA Miles" Frosteee', 3rd Feb 2011

I signed up to the British Airways American Express Card on the recommendation of a couple of friends and so far so good! I've got into the habit of using it for as many big purchases as possible to try and grow my airmiles. Booking holidays and flights or big home electricals purchases helps! I then pay off the balance each month so I don't get any debt or interest charges. Whilst it's going to take a while to amass enough miles to get me to the US It's better than a kick in the teeth and does more for me than using my bank debit card. Customer Service has been very good - the call centre is British based (well, it seems to be) and they have dealt with any issues intelligently and courteously. The only glitch I had was that they failed to set up my direct debit on the first couple of occasions although this seemed to be more to do with back office systems than the people I spoke to. Would recommend to a friend as long as you're in it for the BA Miles.

"i am on hold with BA as i write this" hheels1, 1st Feb 2011

i am on hold with BA as i write this...1 hour 5 minutes and counting. To call this card a scam would be to compliment it. Unbelievably difficult to use. very few dates available to use, they must get tons of complaint calls, their attitude suck on phone. Their online system does not work either, buyer beware

"Not worth the effort" Guest, 18th Jan 2011

RUBBISH! The card is not accepted at many places, the rate is SUPER high, that credit extended is less than any of my other cards and when I book a flight on BA using it they charge me £4.50 for the priviledge. Horrible custmer ethos. I am done with BA frequent flyer and BA American Express. Not worth the effort.
