Barclaycard Initial

Summary
Barclaycard Initial is provided by Barclaycard.

The representative APR is 29.9%APR variable.

Barclaycard Initial is one of the few credit cards designed specifically for people that have either never had credit, or have had credit problems (like CCJs and defaults) in the past.

This means that this card may be a good option, if you have a poor credit rating or have recently been declined by other card providers.
How long will it take to repay with the Barclaycard Initial

Fixed payment
By switching to the Barclaycard Initial, you could pay off £1000 in by budgeting £50 each month. This would effectively cost you £50.
Minimum payment
By comparison, if you only make the minimum payment each month, it would take 23 years and 10 months to repay, costing you a total of £3,445 on top of the original balance! If this seems high, that's because your minimum payment is calculated as a percentage of your balance. This means each payment will be slightly lower than the month before which will have less effect on clearing your balance. So be smart and pay as much as you can afford!

This was my first credit card. Applying for your barclaycard is very simple, it can be done online, over the phone or in you local barclays bank. They start you off with a sensible credit limit (low around £300) unlike some other companies who offer you to much and for those who never had a credit card before and find financial matters difficult to grasp thats a bad thing, so barclays take it slow demonstrating care for the customer. Your statements are sent atleast 2 weeks before your next payment date giving you ample time to pay. Payments can be sent over the phone or net, through a post office or by post, were as with Egg it can only be done online. APR rate on the barclaycard initial is around 24% which is high, there are many other cheaper cards to go for eg capital one or egg. barclay card also offer payment protection, extended warrenty and have a very active fraud department. At christmas i was contacted twice by the fraud department because i used the card many times in a short period, i'll admit it was frustrating but it was reasurring, proving that this is a company that looks after its customers. IF you want a credit card but worry about fraud, get a barclay card. IF you want a credit card but dont completely trust your self, get a barclaycard. IF you want to ensure you are with a company who DOES care you you and you finances, get a barclay card if you want a low APR go else were. At the end of the day you get what you pay for, you pay more for your barclaycard but you get a lot from it.
