How long will it take to repay with the MBNA Platinum Plus Card
Balance transfer     Purchases
Fixed payment
By switching to the MBNA Platinum Plus Card, you could pay off £1000 in by budgeting £50 each month. This would effectively cost you £50.
Minimum payment
By comparison, if you only make the minimum payment each month, it would take 4 years and 9 months to repay, costing you a total of £1,418 on top of the original balance! If this seems high, that's because your minimum payment is calculated as a percentage of your balance. This means each payment will be slightly lower than the month before which will have less effect on clearing your balance. So be smart and pay as much as you can afford!

"THE PITS !" zurichcustomer, 9th Feb 2011

In short, MBNA are the pits. I did have a MBNA credit card up until a few weeks ago and always paid off the full amount by direct debit every month. I just could not take anymore of their very unprofessional attitude of their staff. Their call center is a joke with long period waiting on hold and then being cut off when asking a basic query such as a balance. When I did have an issue with being charged twice for an item they just could not care less. Avoid. They are the pits.

"I would not recommend MBNA" Guest, 2nd Feb 2011

Received a letter from MBNA to advise they were increasing my interest rate to 27.9%. I have been a loyal Alliance & Leicester now MBNA card holder for over 18 years and I have now cancelled my card and switched to Tesco who offered an APR of 12.228%. I would not recommend MBNA.

"Thinking of taking my business elsewhere!" damama, 26th Jan 2011

had a letter advising my card was stopped (the previous day) due to a potential fraud. I rang but could get no details of how my card details had been "possibly" intercepted by a third party. I decided to pay off my full balance ( £2k) and rang the help team. An agent said she could only take the minimum payment from me. The reason she gave was because my card had been stopped she could not take the full amount. I reminded her that they had stopped the card through no fault of mine. I eventually got to speak to a manager who took the full payment from me, but even he was very dismissive and spoke down to me. I am still waiting for a new card to be delivered. Am now seriously thinking of taking my business elsewhere.

"WHAT JOKERS" Guest, 23rd Jan 2011

MBNA charged me for 4 late payment fees (+ interest) after i closed the account. They agreed that they had charged me in error and told me they would refund the charges immediately and close the account. I had to phone every month for 4 month until they did so. Then when applied for credit else where i was rejected for having 4 consecutive missed payments on my credit report. In short being a MBNA customer meant I was approximate £1000 worse off 1 month before xmas. Absolutly applaued by their customer service!!
