Greenwood Personal Credit
Good:
They will lend to you even if you have really bad credit
Bad:
If you miss repayments you will have unhappy agents knocking on your door and harassing you
Verdict:
Greenwood are looked upon as loan sharks, their agents are rude and bully you for the repayments - avoid at all costs if you can
Greenwood Personal Credit provide loans between £50 and £500 for up to 33 weeks. They operate on a door to door basis which means they deliver the money to your house and they collect the money from your house. Once you have become a customer and paid your loan back on time, you are eligible to apply for more than £500.
You can apply online or over the phone. If you apply online you will need to complete their online application form. When you have completed it, they will give you a principle decision. If you've been accepted, they will contact you within 2 working days to arrange an agent to visit you. A sales agent will come to your house to bring the forms and the loan agreement to you. As long as you meet the criteria and complete all the forms the money will be brought back to your door within the next few days.
Greenwood have a high interest rate, but that's to be expected as they help people who don't have a good credit history. However, the general opinion on internet reviews say that they can be quite heavy handed when trying to collect money that is late. Their agents work on a commission percentage, so when it comes to making their money, they take it into their own hands. This can obviously be quite worrying when they are coming to your door. This coupled with the high interest rate means you can probably find a more suitable loan for the same amount of money and over a longer period of time if you so wish. Like all door to door services it does serve a purpose but should only be used if you have a bad credit rating and can't use a high street lender. Make sure you keep to your payments as charges will be added very quickly.
This lot bombard us with mail for people who no longer live here. Despite proving this, Greenwood INSIST it is their RIGHT under the consumer credit act of 1974 to send mail to the last known address of their debtors, and WILL CONTINUE TO DO SO!!!!! I am currently having to take legal action to stop these bastards doing this!!!!!!!!
Ive worked for the company for 9 years.and as an agent would never operate in an under handed manner.we ave strict policys to adher to laid out by the company that are honest and fair.we dont collect on a sunday we are not allowed and we dont demand money on the street.we work long hours knocking doors.avin doors shut in our faces.swore at by customers who basically just rip us off signing for money and then refusing to pay the correct ount.take all that into account and what we charge is nothing to what we should charge.its horses for courses and i can see why they ave bad credit tatong.i enjoy more job as 90% of my customers are genuine and respect me the rest would sell their soul to the devil for a few quid.
I find the agent very helpful and friendly, while the rates are not cheap I realise they do take a big risk with some people as the loans are not secured on property etc. and they are a lot cheaper than many others, especially some I have seen advertised on tv. Also the amount owing doesn't go up if you miss a payment one week, try that with your credit card company. I found the process very simple to get the money, the agent filled the forms in for me, explaining everything as he did so, it took about 20 minutes and he gave me the money.
I applied online, Received the call within 2 working days and it was all arranged that I'd been accepted for a £500 loan. I was waiting for the guy to come over but when he was late, I called him. He said he was at the bottom of my road. 30 minutes later, I rang again and he told me that because I'd rung him to ask where he was, He had been stopped by the police for answering his mobile phone whilst driving! So, Unfortunately for me, He couldn't make it. He also told me BEFORE all of this, I would only need proof of my address. That is all. I rang his manager after all this palava and she advised me I needed a birth certificate before arranging a different agent to come and give me my money. So she told me to ring when I had ordered a copy. So I did. But I was then told there was no record of me ever applying. So I applied once more and got turned down! The cheek! So 6 months later, I applied, AGAIN. Third time lucky. The agent came to my home at just gone 8am.(She said she would ring before she came round) Woke all of my household up. I couldn't find the birth certificate so she said she would ring before she came round the next day. This time, She turned up at 8.30am. Woke everybody, Including myself, Again. Anyway, The fella answered the door, Said I was asleep because I had been unwell. She was very rude and demanded he woke me up. Her excuse? She had an early doctors appointment and thought she'd pop to mine whilst she was in the area! Cheeky mare. I told her to leave and shut the door. I was still unwell and she knew this. Next day she came round with some scraggy looking woman and awoke me again. I took the money, Signed some forms and that was that. She told me not to mess around and that she nearly told her manager that she wasn't willing to see me ever again because I messed her around. Then she rudely told me I have o pay etc etc etc. What a nightmare. I decided not to pay the loan back. See how they like it. They haven't got a leg to stand on because they are classed as loan sharks and they prey on vulnerable people who are mainly on benefits with children to feed or people like me who lost their job and desperately need cash. Fill your boots everyone. They can't touch you! :) Have a nice day!
I have been a customer of Greenwood Personal Credit for over two years and I have had several loans and always paid on time and cleared my loans off early. However a year ago the agent lent me some of his personal money NOT Greenwood money , and I agreed to pay it back and add interest to it. However due to unforseen circumstances there have been delays in repaying the personal money that the agent lent me out of his own pocket, So he will not lend me any GREENWOOD money until his personal money is repaid. Surely the personal money should have no bearing on any Greenwood lending?
Due to a recent problem with my bank, I took a loan out with Greenwoods Personal Credit. I had looked at both Greenwoods and Provident's websites, to compare what the apr etc would be. I decided to make an application to Greenwoods for £500 to tie me over until my wages had been sorted out. I didnt hear anything for weeks, then one day I got a call from a guy called Russell whom advised that he wanted to come and visit myself to fill in the paperwork and to pay me my loan. He arrived the next day, we were going through all of the paperwork and he said that it would be £150 only as a new customer. I queried this and he made a call to his boss, who advised that the maximum he would goto was £200. With it been that I just had a short term problem, I excepted the loan and asked about early repayment. The agent advised that this was fine however I would not get much intrest back. The first months payment was made on the 14th May 1 week after the loan of £40. The second was made on the 11th June for another amount of £40. Now the total loan inc of intrest @ 399.7% over 32 weeks was £320. As all has been sorted, with regards to my pay I requested a settlement figure from their offices. A figure of £260 was requested, bearing in mind when the loan was taken out and when taken out/ payments made the total inc of intrest should be todate : £145.67 due to pay. Intrest over 32 weeks is worked out : Total Over 32 weeks -Loan = Intrest per week So what should of happened was: £320 - £200= 120/32= £3.75* 6 =£22.50 Intrest Initial loan of £200 - £80 = £120 + £22.50 intrest = £142.50 to pay as of today. The consumer credit act states that, a provider must be fair and that intrest should be pro-rata unless stated on the origional agreement. I currently work in debt collection / legal collections, I would not recommend this company at all. If you have to use the company and wish to pay prior to the end of the agreement, refer to a CAB and request a settlement figure in writting. Provident & Greenwoods are the same company as are Vanquis
TOTAL RUBISH LOAN SHARKS, BULLYING COLLECTORS, 300% APR, THE FOLLOWING HAS HAPPENED FAR TOO OFTEN FOR GREENWOOD TO TURN A BLIND EYE! I am in a similar situation, I have had a loan from Greenwood finance for christmas and arranged for my collector to come on a wednesday, Every sunday when we got home there would be a note on the door mat from Greenwood saying 'sorry we missed you' etc. We called Greenwood every week and the collector still kept calling on a sunday when we were out. We then received a letter in the post saying we had missed our payments, we rang the (friendly staff) and informed them and they decided to send a new agent to collect our money and this guy now comes every wednesday without fail which is great we now pay every week, Except we have also now got a hot shot loan shark collecting our money who calls himself the area manager. Tonight I was bathing my 9 month old son and the door was knocked, after about 5 seconds our door was almost hit down, my partner got the door and said we didnt have his money this week and he said ' I AM ONLY COLLECTING YOUR MONEY BECAUSE YOU MOANED, YOU SAID TUESDAY SO PAY ME TODAY, YOU HAVE SIGNED A CREDIT AGGREEMENT' and my partner said i know but we dont have the money and he replied 'YOU DONT GET TO DECIDE WHEN YOU PAY AND WHEN YOU DONT, YOU NEED TO GIVE ME SOMETHING NOW etc and demanded paying so in the end my partner gave him £2 which we didnt have to spare just to get rid of him, when my partner told me i rushed outside and told him he can speek to my partner like that when he has his ship in order etc (his collectors not turning up for 4 weeks etc) and he shouted 'PAY YOUR ACCOUNT OR I WILL TAKE YOU TO COURT and as i got closer to his car he shouted ''OK I WILL TAKE YOU TO COURT' and then drove off (as far as i am aware it is illegal to talk about my account in the street) Is this correct ? I am going to call the police first thing in the morning and find out if this is deemed theft and contacting C.A.B about discusing my account in public. If your thinking about getting a loan off Greenwoods DONT! you dont need the hastle and we really wish we didnt P.S the following statement from DanniG123 is not quite what happened here or in lots of other cases im finding out. 'If you do get a loan off Greenwoods and find that you can't make a payment one week/fortnight/month, then just let your agent know. They won't be annoyed at you, will be very understanding and in fact will be PLEASED that you have informed them of any difficulties' LOL, HE DIDNT LOOK VERY PLEASED TO ME!
I took out a loan for £300 and the amount to repay was £495. I kept up with payments and actually paid the loan off 15 weeks early. When I requested my rebate, the amount brought to my house was less than what I was expecting. I contacted the Area Manager and after a while, I finally ended up having to refer to Trading Standards.
I applied for a £500 loan with Greenwoods and I didn't hear anything for a while. One day I got a call from an agent who wanted to come and fill out the paperwork with me and give me my money. The next day he told me I could only have £150 as I was a new customer. I asked him to call his boss to make sure and his boss let me borrow £200. Make sure you pay close attention to what they are telling you.
I would just like to say, how easy this was. I applied for a £500 loan with Greenwood and within two days, the agent called and came around with the cash. Don't be put off by the high APR, they don't actually make that much money from you. For people with a bad credit rating like me, this is ideal.
Greenwood Personal Credit were really, really helpful. They saved me at just the right time when I honestly thought I had no options left! They are friendly, but very professional and make you feel in safe hands.
