Morses Club
Good:
You can apply if you have bad credit as they do not carry out credit checks
Bad:
As it is a doorstep lender, you may end up paying a lot back in interest
Verdict:
This lender fell behind in the doorstep loan market but is now trying to make a comeback with a new owner - still treat as a last resort as APR is really high
Morses Club are a doorstep lender that operates throughout most of the UK. This means that once you have applied, a representative will be sent to your home to discuss the loan. They will assess your current situation to make sure that you can afford the repayments. The representative will normally decide to pay the cash out to you there and then or they may return to their manager for a second opinion. If they decide to lend the money to you they will let you know and return to your home within a couple of days with your cash. If they decide not to lend the money to you, they'll give you a call to let you know.
For example, first time customers are allowed to borrow £150 and this loan will be paid back at the rate of £7.50 for 34 weeks. You can apply by either completing their 'Quick Contact' form on their website or you can call them on 0870 908 7000. A representative will call you back within two days.
Only use this lender if it your last option and have no other way of getting finance. Doorstep lender representatives tend to work on commission of your repayments so if you do not make repayments on time, it can become a lot of hassle. They may even harass you at your home for the money. Please use caution if you decide to apply with this lender or any other type of doorstep lender.
applied a while ago and stillnot heard from them, load of rubbish
I have been on with morses for a couple of years now after being declined by other lenders such as provident and greenwoods. Morses were the only ones who offered me a loan and the repayments are suitable to my needs for a 200 loan I pay 10 a week the agents I've had have always been nice and friendly and whenever I've needed to miss a payment they have always been fine about it as I make it up by paying double the following week. I've never had any problems morses being rude or claiming to have lost my money. Only thing that bothers me is when you are short of cash you can't just get a loan there and then your previous loan has to be down by half before u ask example 200 loan 310 for repayments loan must be down to 100 before you can get a top up and when you do ask you have to wait a week before getting it. Besides that though I would reccomend them
I applied for a loan with them 2 weeks ago, and still not heard off them. It state s on their website that you will get an answer in 48 hours. Well im still waiting. I have phoned them and all you get is excuses and that someone will phone back, but they never do. I eventually got them mobile number for them manager for my area, and even she was full of excuses. Makes me wonder if this is a sham company. Wouldnt recomend to anyone. If you need money ASAP then used provident or greenwoods, u get money next day with them.
I had a loan out from this company and paid up in full in 2009, i have checked my credit file and on there Morses have stated i have not paid my account for 8 months in a row. This is now affecting me getting credit at a good rate. Avoid at all costs! This company also took over London Scottish who in turn ripped me off by adding PPI to my account and i cannot get this back now as they have gone bust!
I pay my loan everyweek but on thursday money went missing when my agent left after 5 hours she rang me saying 100pound was gone she left it r house but she didnt she is lying to us so everyone as a loan from these guys please do check with agent now cos they will back stab u in the back.
Hi there everyone, here is the thing i sent a request online a week ago, i called on wed , thurs and then on Friday to ask what was happening, they gave me to number for the local office, which i called more then once and left messages. Noone replied and noone got back to me, no either they are overwhelmed or they are just rude. I would suggest if anyone needs a loan use provident, at least they called...
dont borrow from these or any other dorstep lender they will have you caught up in a vicious circle of lending, paying so much back then dangling a carrot[money] under your nose so it seems like easy money.just look at the intrest rates and compare them to a bank and see the diffrence RIP OFF
I put my details more then 5 times on there website and everytime said within 48 hours someone will contact me which NO BODY phoned me back. I then contacted their customer service department and they said everytime they will email to local branch and provided me their telephone number and still no body phoned me up. I phoned local branch as they say starting from 8am through out the day till 6pm every 10-20 mins intervals and guess what no body there to pick telephones up. I then contacted the head office number on their website and been advised they dont sit and work in the office :)) So whats the point you giving me their numbers? I asked dont these people have mobile phones and answer i got is all they can get in touch with them is via emails (We live in 21st century) lol Then finally today after chasing this up past 4-5 weeks they told me that they have got customers in the area where i live but they dont have any agents lol Even now if they provide me any loan i wouldnt take it because these really seems like MICKEY MOUSE BUSINESS. AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE....
