NatWest are offering this Professional Trainee Loan for College of Law Students. This loan can help you cover your costs whilst studying a Graduate Diploma in Law (GDL), a Legal Practice Course (LPC) or a Bar Vocational Course (BVC) at the College of Law. You can only apply for this loan if you are studying for one of these courses.

You can borrow between £1,000 and £25,000 if you are studying full-time or part-time, which you repay up to 10 years. You can either choose between a fixed rate loan where your repayments will remain the same throughout your loan term or you can choose a variable interest rate where your repayments will differ throughout your loan term. You can use £3,000 or the loan to repay any existing debts you may have.

You can download the application form from their website which will need to be half completed by yourself and half completed by your course administrator. Then take this application form along with your documentation: Confirmation that you are studying the course you say you are, if you are a trainee solicitor or barrister you will need proof of your graduation, if you are a trainee solicitor, confirmation that you are enrolled as a member of the Law Society OR if you are a trainee barrister, proof that you are a member of one of the Inns. the completed application form that is done half by you and half by the establishment, proof of ID (a current signed passport/a full UK driving licence/a benefit book/a UK armed forces ID card/EU National ID card/HM Revenue & Customs issues tax notification and correspondence/current firearms or shotgun certificate/police warrant card), proof of address (a gas, electricity or phone bill mobile phone bills are not acceptable/a current council tax bill/a bank or building society statement/a full UK driving licence/any letter from the benefits agency confirming rights to benefits at present/house, motor, motorcycle, boat insurance certificate or policy. They will assess your application and let you know their decision.
