Speed-e-Loans
Good:
The quicker you pay your loan off, the cheaper it will be
Bad:
They include a £4.95 arrangement fee which is included in the loan
Verdict:
Relatively new, they are really flexible in their terms so you can borrow even a small amount for up to 59 days (which most lenders don't do) and if you really fall behind on payments they will help you arrange a fair repayment plan
Speed-e-loans are a payday lender that specialise in short-term small value loans. Their fees generally work out as £30 per £100 borrowed, which puts Speed-e-loans in the middle of the market in regards to charges.
The application process is completely online, but it is simple and very clear. It takes only a couple of minutes to complete their application form. When you have completed the first bit, they will text you with a PIN number which you must enter to access and sign your electronic Loan Agreement. They will review your application and once you have signed the loan agreement, they will let you know their final decision. They will then transfer the money into your account which will take between 2 hours and 24 hours.
Speed-e-loans were only set up in 2009 so there are a limited number of reviews, however their charges make this a popular choice within the payday market, instead of offering a set APR for a month, they charge 1% a day, this means if you pay it off within 25 days it can work out a lot cheaper than others on offer. They also offer customers the ability to defer the payment of the loan for up to 3 months in a row if you are struggling, bear in mind that you do still have to pay the interest on the first month, this makes the loan more expensive. Only take this loan out if it is a last resort and you are sure you can make the repayment on the date agreed.
THIS COMPANY IS A JOKE - HOW CAN THESE PEOPLE LIVE WITH THEMSELVES! FINE YES THEY LEND YOU MONEY...... BUT THE INTEREST (WHICH IS NOT AT ALL CLEAR) IS RIDICULOUS! I WILL NEVER USE THIS COMPANY OR ANY OTHER ASSOCIATED WITH THIS COMPANY I WILL NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY TO MY WORST ENEMY. ROBBERS/SCAMMERS
i recently wrote a favourable review but now i am having to revise it? louise from birmingham stated she was declined through a change to her credit file?i have re-applied and just got the same answer which is absolutely incorrect having only yesterday been told by equifax my report has not changed and all is well!it would appear it doesnt amount to much being a good customer and wheres all the favourable reports that supposedly help your credit file?well at least i wont have any interest to pay ,so my advice is hunker down get through the tight time eat your pride borrow of a friend or family and its quite simple you cannot ever count on these companies!! to help you out in a tight spot. good luck.
used these a couple of times and up to now no problems, have used a few different companies over time and there are far worse ones out there. payday loans are ok as long you watch what your doing as they can be expensive.
A fraudulent payment was made on my debit card to pay off someone's loan. This was 6 weeks ago and I have phoned and emailed but not got any response. I have never taken a loan from them but would say best to avoid this company at all costs.
I had a phone call from their representative who informed me that the payment had not gone through for the loan to be re paid. I extended by paying thirty pounds only to contact my bank and find that the payment had gone through. I phoned and explained the situation and they refused to refund the thirty pounds saying that it was their contractual obligation to have this. Since they have also taken another fourty pounds as I entered a dmp with them as their "payment" had not gone through. Customer service is constantly busy and they argue the toss with you when you eventually get through to them. AVOID AT ALL COST!!!! I am trying to get money back through financial ombudsman but it has not worked so far..... Just as an additional thought they took the money in small amounts of £5 each time over twenty four hours hence why they said the payment had not gone through....
On 7th February I applied for a loan of £200 with the agreement that they will collect £252.09 on 01/03/2012 from my bank account as my payday was on the 1st March. I was sure I will have enough money on my account on the due date to pay the loan back so I agreed and e-signed the contract. For my biggest surprise Speed-e-loans collected the money from my account on the 28th February... 2 days before my loan payment due date. Because it was before my payday I did not have enough money in the bank to cover the whole payment which caused that I have to pay now £60 bank charges. An other thing... if I paid the money back in 21 days instead of 23, wasn't the interest and fees supposed to be less??? I tried to contact customer services team on a phone number 08448793199 as it says in my pre-contract information to get an explanation. First time a lady told me she didn't know what happened, she promised me to look at my case and ring me back in an hour. I was waiting 4 hours and know one got back to me. So I called again when a "gentleman" asked me what I want and when I tried to explain to him he just rudely hung up on me. So I tried it again when a lady finally advised me to make a formal complaint by sending an e-mail. All I wanted was just an answer for my question ... what gave them the right to take the money from my account 2 days earlier if we agreed that the due date is 01/03/12 but most of their employees were treating me like a dog !!! I know nothing's gonna happen even if I sent an e-mail, probably I ain't gonna get an answer either ... I'm just disgusted with the fact that know one had the decency to say at least sorry. One thing is certain...I will never ever use their services again.
I cancelled my card on the advice of my Debt Management Plan. I got a call from them saying that they would be happy to set up a repayment plan of £24 per month. I gave them my new card details and they took the whole lot the next day leaving me unable to pay my other creditors and leaving me in lots of trouble. They also do not have a phone number for you to complain and I have had one response via email saying that they would respond within 3 days...That was a week ago. I have reported them to the Financial Ombudsman and the Police. Please please please stay away from this company. I now e-mail them every hour on the hour for my money back.
These guys first rang my work place pretending to be my bank, after my second loan I was late paying it back so they rang me pretending that id won a prize which i knew was b***s*** i told them i could arrange a date for the funds to be there they declined and said they wanted the money right then. so instead of arranging a date for payments when my next pay came they completely cleaned my bank out with small withdrawals and added charges. avoid these guys like the plaque there operate illegally.
I couldn't afford to pay them back in full, so I set up a payment arrangement, reluctantly giving them my card details, instead of taking £30, they wiped my bank account clear. I'm in more debt now than ever, don't touch them!!
Sorry to read of others experience but mine is really positive. Three months ago I applied for a speed e card which was accepted. I Borrowed £250 and it went straight on to my speed e card. Money was there within no time - was a massive help for me. I now have a card I can use to pay for stuff online if i want to. I lost the use of my credit cards when my work hours were cut and so was my pay.In the UK without a credit card you' are stumped - so thanks to speedeloans I now have a lifeline. I paid the money on time and have borrowed again. I couldnt manage without a payday loan. Great experience for me, would highly recommend. and what ever you think, it was reported on the news that its fact that the big banks charge you more than paydays if you go over your overdraft limit!
THIS COMPANY WILL RING YOU AGAIN AND AGAIN AT WORK IF YOU MISS A PAYMENT. THEY WILL SET UP ARRANGEMENTS WITH YOU IN ORDER TO GET YOUR CARD DETAILS AND THEN THEY WILL EMPTY YOUR BANK. IF YOU DO NOT FALL FOR THIS THEY WILL ESCALATE THEIR CHARGES TO THE POINT WHERE THEY ARE HARRASSING YOU FOR THOUSANDS OF POUNDS (LITERALLY). OUT AND OUT BULLIES WITH NO REGARD FOR THE FOS. THEY WILL EVENTUALLY TAKE YOU TO COURT NO MATTER WHAT YOU DO. PLEASE DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES.
i BEG ANYONE NOT TO USE THIS COMPANY, THEY SHOULD BE SHUT DOWN FOR HOW THEY TREATED ME AND I HAVE PUT MY COMPLAINT TO WATCHDOG AND THE FINACIAL ONBUDSMAN. I TOOK A LOAN OUT LAST MONTH £130 AND I GOT BEHIND ON SOME BILL SO HAD NO CHOICE TO CANCEL MY CARD TO STOP ANY PROBLEMS AND WAS GOING TO PAY THEM ON MY NEXT PAY DAY. THEY CALLED ME DIRECT AY WORK AND I SAID I COULD NOT TALK AS I WAS IN AN OFFICE FULL OF PEOPLE, HE SAID HE WOULD NOT GET OF THE LINE UNTIL IT WAS PAID, I HAD TO CUT HIM OFF. HE THEN PROCEEDED TO KEEP PRESSING REDIAL 5 TIMES OR MORE AND I HAD TO TERMINATE CALLS. THEN SOMEHOW THEY MANAGED TO GET MY MAIN WORKS NUMBER AND MY SUPERVISOR TOOK THE CALL. THEY ASKED FOR ME AND SHE TOLD THEM I WAS NOT ALLOWED PERSONAL CALLS AND HE REFUSED TO GET OFF THE LINE. SHE HAD TO TERMINATE CALL, HE THEN KEPT PRESSING REDIAL TO KEEP CALLING. IN THE END I HAD TO RING FROM THE TOILETS AND ASK THEM TO STOP CALLING AS I WOULD GET IN TROUBLE. THE MANAGER SAID HE COULD MAKE THE CALLS STOP IF I GAVE HIM MY CARD DETAILS. i GAVE THEM HIM AND EXPLAINED I DIDNT GET PAID UNTIL 3 DAYS LATER. HE SAID THAT WAS OK. LATER THAT NIGHT I RELAISED THEY HAD TAKEN THE PAYMENT WHICH WAS PART OF MY RENT!!!! I AM SO ANGRY TO BE TREATED IN SUCH A WAY.
i did apply, and they said my credit score was too, bad but i just checked my score it was ok, then i rang them kept on hold for ages was told to reapply as it was an error then I was accepted, I only applied for a 150 loan for about 10 days paid it back on time now i get emails saying i owe money sent the statements showing i paid, they dont care, their always believe they in the right and we in the wrong,
Blatent liars, they called my work and told the receptionist it was the Halifax Bank. Took a loan for £400 and upto now ive paid them £800 plus they keep taking payments from my debit card even though its over my overdraft limit and as such im incuring charges from my bank account as well. B******s !!!
I originally borrowed £250 and repaid and then borrowed another £350. My circumstances changed and I could not repay so tried to set up an arrangement which they declined. Now they are demanding over £2000. Have complained to the Financial Ombudsman and am awaiting their judgement - meanwhile Speedeloan have emailed me offering me a "substantial" discount (Ha! on £2000? They've got to be kidding) and advising that the FOS complaint is now resolved with no action being taken which is a blatant lie. DO NOT USE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES
As has been mentioned - this company are good and quick to use.....but only until you fall into trouble. I too took loans regularly and paid them off, I was even told on the phone I was a good customer when one month I was declined without any change in circumstances. I was told to try again in a couple of months. Did so about 4 months later and was accepted as normal. In the meantime, my girlfriend left and I was stuck paying all the bills by myself and so I couldn't make the payment. Cancelled my debit card to stop any problems and called them to advise. I made an arrangement of £50 a month until I was back on my feet and gave my new debit card details. Bad move as they completely ignored my agreement and took all their money on my next payday leaving me short for my rent. I rung them and they were complete t**** including the manager who I spoke to who said they could do what they did as it was in the agreement. They didn't care i was a good customer and they didn't care they had left me f*****. Learnt my lesson now - I don't use payday loan companies. They are all the same - a****.
Owed them approximately £1400 pounds, said they would settle the debt with a one off payment of £750. Could not afford this and made an arrangement to pay back £50 a month which was accepted by them. Next day took the other £700 pounds out without informing me and reckon there is nothing underhand about this. Lied to me, they could not care less about anyone, an absolute disgrace and am not letting them get away with this.
Stay clear of Speed-e-loans nothing but a company looking for you to get deep in debt, so they can fill their pockets with your misfortune.
Within 5 minutes of my July salary being credited to my bank account these people entered 10 debit card transactions and cleared the entire balance without any communication with me. Inotially, they sound good and courteous, but when you write a personal letter with a genuine grievance it will be casually brushed aside. The worse of it was that these people consider they have a prior claim of my assets and completely undermined my negotiations with all other creditors, whether priority or unsecured. I suggest you stay well away from this unscrupulous company.
Though it may be a different company thought I'd warn everyone. Speed Credit (company from Toothfairy Finance). Stay clear We all know sometimes we fall behind payments, or miss a repayment, majority of payday loan companies ie: wonga, Quickquid etc are understanding and only put on 10 pounds extra, Speed Credit? One week late I was, (my own fault yes, i changed banks but forgot to inform them) text me saying they were going to add £350 to my loan for solicitors and legal fees! Never anyone to answer the phone either. Keep clear!
Have to agree with another review; used Speedy for several months - taking out a number of loans - and always paying them back on time. Then I was declined (apparently because of my credit file) - once again - no difference in my credit since the previous times they'd approved me. I had also had the "we've reached our quota for the month" answer - was told to reapply on the 1st of the next month - did so, and was declined again!! They used to have an approval process which took a couple of hours - now it is instantaneous - and normally declines based on your credit report! It would appear they have redically changed their lending criteria - maybe they've had a lot of defaults?
ok until you need some extra help due to some financial difficulty the agreed a repayment plan with me but whan the repayment date came they not only took what they had agreed to but took another payment of over £500! of course they blamed their system and refused to refund, i am currently taking the matter further and wanted to warn you all first dont give them your new card details they will only fleece you like they did me
I used this company for a few months, I always paid on time and never requested an extension. Then they declined my application apparently based on information from my credit file. This made no sense to me as my credit rating was no worse than when they approved my previous loan. I called to query their decision and was informed that they weren't lending at the moment as they'd reached their quota for the month! Also they change their approval criteria all the time, so just because you're approved one month, it doesn't mean you'll be approved the next time you apply.
